Time (reflection on the first day of the year 2026)

Time flies they say

No, I don’t agree
Times comes in bits and pieces

Sometimes time is just some time
A large chunk of time goes by
But nothing really happens
As time goes by

Other times time is full
Moments so filled with time
You can almost touch them

Some people are afraid of the passing time
Afraid that time should escape them

Again no
You have to be in the time
Not just in time

Time can not be well spent
Time is not a currency
Time is where we are

It’s a choice to be in the time

-------------

I wrote this reflection on time a few years ago. As we enter a new year, how to be in the time while the world is changing in mostly negative ways is a profound challenge. Still, maybe slowing down and bering in the time is what it takes to be able to stay standing and rooted as the climate is deteriorating and wannabe dictators are on the rise. More about my personal plans for the coming year later.
