Christmas Eve, looking for new energy

Today is Christmas Eve. While not being religious, this time of the year is still a possibility to slow down and reflect. The past year has sadly meant mostly negative events, as I wrote about in my previous post. So I could write about my thoughts and feelings when looking at the doors of this bomb shelter in central Gothenburg.

But instead I want to emphasize this picture, which shows the source of the probably most positive news from 2016, the continued and increasing growth of solar energy. Generating electricity from the sun is becoming cost competitive with fossil fuels and that is in my view one of the best news for the climate. But it is also a major path forward if we are to wrestle power away from autocrats and kleptocrats like Putin and Trump. Their reign is built upon a throne of fossil fuels, take away that and they will fall.

So let Christmas be a time om relaxation, reflection and recharging, regardless of any or none religious beliefs! There is much to be done in the coming year!

Merry Christmas!
